Faultlines.

Poetry

Written after listening to "Faultlines" by Karine Polwart. The guy in this poem is called Josh, an ex of mine who started doing drugs, smoking and drinking after we split up in 2008. As far as I know, he's doing it to this day. Well, he was yesterday anyway.

We had it all once.
Now we are nothing,
lost in a void of blame
and anger. Is it my
fault or yours that
our relationship was
built on faultlines?

Can we ever get it
back, that innocent love?
I think not - you have
changed for the worse,
and I love another
now. Forgive me - I never
knew we'd built on faultlines.
