Goodnight, dear friend, we must leave each other forever,
For it is not meant to be anymore,
I hope you understand, and if you don't, then I'm sorry.
I hope we can still be friends,
But I don't think my new friend will like you much.
We've pretended to like each other for too long,
And now it's time to stop the charade.
I can't deny that I liked you,
But I've found somebody else to care for,
I know you'd do the same in my position.

Goodnight, dear friend, we must leave each other forever,
For our love affair has passed away,
And now all we have is the good times in the past.
I will never find the right person to care for,
Only useless flings to brag about to my friends.
I only have the power of mind to control my heart,
And even now, my heart pleads for me to stop and search for the right one.

Goodnight, dear friend, we must leave each other forever,
For our passion has died and is now six feet underground,
And silence has descended over our relationship.
I apologise if I've hurt your feelings,
But I must care about my own welfare before yours.
I'm sorry if I sound selfish, but that's the way I was brought up.
Oh, I know it's sad when our love dies.

Goodnight, dear friend, we must leave each other forever,
For the past is to be kept there,
And you are a ghost of the past to me now.
I have others to care for,
And my family depends on me.
I feel that I have used you too much,
And now I must use somebody else now.
I'm so sorry, but you must go,
But I hope we can still be friends.

Goodnight, dear friend, we must leave each other forever,
For my life says I must travel the world solo,
And I'll only call when I need you.
Oh, it's sad when our love perished,
But we're not hot anymore.
And I can't deny my heart anymore.
I'm sorry, I just can't support you anymore.
I hope you understand, but if you don't, then tough.
