Where I Belong

Sort of my take on life as I chose to live it. Simple and free. View table of contents...

Let them be as the world is,
wallowing in their own pleasures and wealth
but blind to anything beyond this life.
I’d rather be standing alone and know right where I belong
eyes straight forward,
heart stayed on the one I love.
To have my soul sing of heaven,
to ride the winds of time knowing what I live for,
to be a light that reaches the eyes of even the blind,
and a voice that calls through the darkest night.

I’d rather be a martyr having died for truth,
than old, empty and clinging to the world's lies.
So many take the easy path,
But it’s not mine to walk.

I’d rather shine of simple life and freedom,
than some worldly icon with naught but their own lies to live for.
Even if I could live among the kings of the earth, with all the world at my hands,
I’d rather be standing alone and know just where I belong.

And I do know where I belong-
though I may stand there all alone.
I live for one thing only
and my God is my bread, water, and air.
I pray that those still blind will open their eyes before it’s gone
but as for me right now
I don’t care if I stand alone against all the world
because I know just where I belong.

yes, to have one-pointedness, to be focused on the one goal. so many of us have hearts and eyes in so many places, these tides enter in from all avenues.
lol, yes I have called it 'opening up all the windows and letting all the flys in' lol

the only line that didn't ring with me was 'opening thier eyes before it's gone' sinse truth can never be gone or go anywhere. ah, but your sentiments are grand :)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it, maybe you'd enjoy some of my other works.

As for the line you mentioned, I'm referring to life. You're quite correct that truth can never be gone, but life as we have to live it is only so long in one conciousness, those who live it like they're the living dead, sleep-walking through a life they don't really feel like living makes me terribly sad. So many people don't seem to see life around them, they only see thing they don't have, problems and miseries, that's the blindness I'm referring to and it's the singular, concious life that I mean must end. Life is short, it's a pity to live it with ones eyes closed.

I love this poem! This is the first thing that I have read written by you, and I really enjoy your writing! Keep it up, and I can't wait to read more by you! =)

Hey thanks, I'm glad you liked it. :)

Time is something that comes and goes and for that split second it freezes. This quick moment you know that you are in the right place at the right time doing exactly what when you are supposed to. Right now I'm here knowing this is where I belong knowing that I needed to read this. I have faith in humanity as a whole but I stand alone as well. I refuse to live by laws of life that I do find inhumane. The harsh society masquerading as if this was how a world should really be run. I laugh at the people who think money is life even though it is a requisite of this modern world I find it useless. I don't see the point of having people laying night after night on our streets dieing just so that someone can have a object of supposed value. The true values of ourselves in this world and the people we decide to associate with. Maybe the people we find that connect with us and allow us to love ourselves. Your testaments of love are gorgeous and the expression of how you love is loyal and beautiful. The kings of the earth would be nice to live among in my opinion depending on how you define it. Whether it be MLK Jr. the king of an incredible revolution I would much enjoy being in his company. Great writing I appreciate it and my visions of this world are very similar to your own. I am way outside the box but the constrictions of the box hold back much that should be held by all. take care B Leaf

I love you man. That was awesomely deep. Never. Ever. Stop. Being. Deep. That just rocks and there's a shortage of people on this world who can get past the three-foot mark mentally. *cowers from haters* You totally get what I mean here though--like totally! I mean there are a lot of people who concider this sort of mindset something like "apathy" but it's totally different than that despite being somewhat similar. I mean, I care SO much about the world and people and humanity. I love mankind as a whole, I'm a total optomist when I look into the eyes of the people around me---I see life, love, potential and the pulse of a beautiful society that just wants to be free and thrive. But within my love for humanity I am seperate from them. I sympathize with everything and my empathy is like...hugely a defining factor in who I am. But I don't change because of society. I'm not...one of them. I'm not just somebody because I refuse to be anybody. It's not that I'm contrary, but nor do I follow rules. I just refuse to be anything. I cut my own path and if that means walking with the soldiers down a golden road then I'll follow it, but if likewise if it means running of the beaten path against all laws and ideas, then I'm still following my path. I dunno, it's just so hard to explain to people how passionate I am about life--some people understand and some people just can't see it, can't get it. It makes sad when people get so wrapped up in things that don't have a farting chance in Bohemia of mattering at all. I feel for people, I really do, but for however much I'm willing to and am going to try and save them, I'm just not going to go down with them. I know where I'm headed and there's only one person I follow. Money burns, food molds, gold tarnishes and people die. But life should. be. live. period.

Okay...I'm done ranting now.

Wowwhoa you are just to amazing, i am totally in love with this poem...once again would you mind if i put this in my literature books of things i love...because i definitely love this, you always amaze me and inspire me...love this, this is awesome work!!

You're gonna put it in a book? Um, sure I guess--hahah. Is it like just a collection of your fav stuff or what? Cause I do that too...but I'm confused. When I hear "literature book" I think: school. And somehow I doubt you have the power to put stuff in school books--but if you do--omg: you need to share your secret with mio!!

Thanks! *warm and squishy again*

Very beautiful and well put.Your absolutly right about that. There are so many temptations out there today. It's very hard to fight them but we gotta be strong.Really great.Loved it.

Thanks again, you're right too. We gotta be strong. Some people think that words are meaningless, but really there's more power in words spoken boldly than most people ever imagine. What we speak we live.
