Questioning the essence

Of that which disturbs my thoughts

An intrinsic saddness

That engulfs the mind

And suffocates the soul.

"Where are you?" it screams.

Away, lost, searching in blindness

Pretending, enduring, agonizing

Keeping you hidden

Within myself.

But deception never came easy --

The eyes in the mirror

Can see beneath this facade

And that is all it takes

To break this fragile barrier.
