He once sang songs of love and you
Of the shining sun and morning dew
He once sang songs of light and hope
And now sings songs of pills and rope
He once sang songs of birds and skies
Of longing, need and pleasured sighs
He once sang songs of his inspiration
And now sings songs of his desperation
He once sang songs of joy and glee
Of how much she meant to he
He once sang songs of pleasured sighs
And now sings songs of mournful cries
He once sang songs of lips and eyes
Of how he cherished his beautiful prize
He once sang songs of his true devotion
And now sings songs of sad emotion
He once sang songs of the wonderful world
Of how he loved the girl he held
He once sang songs of her voice and breath
And now sings songs about his death
