Learning to say goodbye
Trying not to ask, who, when or why?
Resisting the urge to cry
Shoulders back, chest out, head held up to the sky
Maybe she found a new suitor
It's possible you just didn't suit her
Hold the desire to shoot her
She's off to a brand new future
She packs the last of her bits in the car
Ok, so she 'ain't going that far
As the key turns in the ignition she gives you one more scar
Farewell my 'shining star'
Remember to smile as she's leaving
She's all that you once believed in
And as soon as she's free and she's breathing
Go in, shut your door, start grieving
Look forward not back you must try
Cry, ache, yearn, grieve, sigh
Have faith in yourself 'til you die
Learning to say goodbye...
