It's just like any other day
I wake and wash and boil the kettle
And she is just so far away
Testing my resolve and my mettle
The sun is shining brightly
I make some toast and burn it
I have known this lesson before
But sadly I have never learned it
It's just like any other day
I have hardly slept a wink
I roll myself some weed to smoke
I think about a drink
The clouds are forming quickly
The skies are turning grey
I turn her name over in my mind
She's just so far away
It's just like any other day
Outside it starts to rain
No matter what I try to do
I'm still alone with my pain
So I think of other things to do
But it all turns out the same
I cannot stop thinking 'bout her
I cannot forget her name
It's just like any other day
I try to laugh and smile
Then reality hits home again
And happiness lasts a short while
Outside the skies are turning black
The sun has gone to bed
I want to sleep but can't face it alone
So I lay awake with thoughts of her in my head
