Master of Beauty

Poetry By: lilang3l

Okay, so I was writing a speech about teenage depression and while I was writing, the phrase "what is it about beauty that pains people so" crossed my mind. And I was like, "wait a second, that sounds like a poem!" And off I went on my quest to write 'tis poem. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy it and the word "preservance" I made up (its supposed to be the noun version of preserve) and no it is not a typo of the word "perserverance".

What is it about beauty that pains people so?
That renders them speechless
and leaves them a prisoner to their own selfish desires?
Beauty is a great gift, and those who endear it are in great danger,
For they will be subjected to great torture and pain
In their quest for this great antiquity.
Beauty does not only lie on the surface,
But also takes residence in one's inner being; soul.
Only those whom relish in life's great mysteries,
And are able to breach the walls of self-stemmed hate
Will be able to truly call them self, master of beauty.
It is only when it is part of their very core of essence,
That one can truly say that they are beautiful.
For beauty is not something that can be created,
But rather gained.
Not of mechanical means,
But of one's own preservance and love of self.
