Do you ever stop and think of others?
A good friend, neighbor or possibly your brother?
As you turn on the television, washer and lights,
the closest some will get, is sitting quietly with candles lit at night.
As you walk around the grocery store filling your cart,
the closest some will get, is reheating last night's soup
and eating the last part.
As you stand up from the chair in the barber shop
and pay the tip and fee,
some have to settle for a ponytail and let it be.
As you visit with you Doctor and pharmacy as needed,
the closest some will get, is an untreated diagnose.
The lack of health insurance has permitted their illness to be cheated.
While you enjoy answering the phone,
some cringe at the familiar sound, knowing it’s a creditor
that demands you to make good on a loan.
As you reach for your bedtime snack,
the closest some will get, is reaching for water and a tissue pack.
To satisfy their hunger and diminish their fears.
Allowing the tissues to catch their tears.
So remember, as you prepare to ride around town filling up on gas,
the closest fill some will get, is laying in bed praying the absence of money wont last.
Hopefully you do not take things for granted as you go through the routine of your day.
For you see, your good friend, neighbor or brother may not have it that way.
