The skies are grey and the ground wet,
But I can’t care, the date is set.
I’m in the back room, nerves unsteady,
I can’t do this, I’m not ready.
The bridesmaids enter, “Good to go?”
I nod and smile though I don’t want to.
I hear the music start to play,
My move forward and my legs sway.
I look at the audience, then run to the door,
I’m sorry, but I can’t pretend anymore.
I run as far and fast as I can,
No one will ever understand.
I didn’t love him, I was trapped,
I have always loved someone else.
I turn up at his door, smile on my face,
Because I am his runaway bride.
