An empty heart can beat and bleed,
But what it can't do is breathe.
It stills itself of love and feelings,
Closes the door because it is 'healing.'
Healing-what does that mean anyway?
Does it make the scars go away?
Does the pain turn into gold?
And what happens to eternal sorrow?
And what does it mean,
To have a good dream?
I only ever get nightmares,
Sometimes I wish I was dead.
But I place a smile on my face,
One that's filled with shame and self-hate.
But no one can see the tears that won't fall,
No one's there anymore.
I'm alone in the shadows as they whisper or scream,
As they try to make a ghost out of me.
But they're attempts are foiled since my heart can't breathe,
What they don't know is that I'm The Shadow Queen.
