Long elegant neck and a long bruise violet tounge,
17 feet tall and 2,600 pounds, the weight of my obsession.
Giraffa Camelopardalis, common name giraffe,
I can still count on one hand the times that I've been asked
"For what your fascination?"

It started with a picture, a gauche knobbed kneed fool,
Regal neck tipped to the ground instead of reaching toward the stars.
Along came the movies, the same graceless lanky tool,
They jerked around nervously in their animated shame,
Hidden in the shadows of the other characters fame.

I can see the truth in Giraffa Camelopardalis,
This gorgeous African creature with no care what comes from us.
They dash away from predators and swing their ossicones in defense,
I can see that they are lithesome with their heads apropos to the sky,
With truth that cannot be denied,
Giraffa Camelopardalis, common name giraffe,
Bound through open plains on their elevator legs,
Reaching high into the ozone to reach acacia trees
Though T.V. shows them clumsy, nature shows them free.
