I was the Singer
I once was the singer who sang the song, composed the music and the lyrics danced along.
My melodies soulful, my ballads were true,
I once was the singer, never famous but happy too.
I once was the musician, played bass guitar
So many had tipped me as potentially going far.
Admired by many, encouraged by few
Yes I was the bass player, proud of the sound I produced.
I was the keyboard player, and still play today
Not to any audiences, studio‘s. occasionally .
Still composing melodies, so calming, such fun
I still write those lyrics but play them alone.
I sing and play keyboards, not like once I did
These days I can barely walk, my hands pain to touch
My spine tells the story, of what Stenosis can do
Arthritis has cost me my mobility too.
The day to day struggle of ill health is now what I know.
I once was the singer, my song is different now!
