The Lost is Won

Poetry By: Maddie Patrick
Poetry

I was practicing on creating a certain feeling for the reader. Not having the reader relate to the poem even though they might. But just making the reader feel a certain feeling. This one was Eerie. So I hope that you enjoy this poem and it gives you a certain feeling of eeriness. I have a book of different poems I practice. They have no real meaning to my life or anything like that. I just try to refine my skills and create subjected poems.

Chills of the cold winter air

Running up and down my spine

Feeling dread and knowing it not fair

But there is something I'm missing

A lone puzzle piece

The thoughts in my head turning and twisting

All I want is closure and peace

Thinking you remember

Hoping you made it up

Why is it always December

When it all blows up

Never let go

Always another statement

Now I know

Your head is imbued with the darkness of the night

I never knew why

But I always thought twice

You intervened and betrayed

Your a thin clothe

That quickly frayed

You couldn't fight longer

You finally caved

Left me alone in this fight to the death

They got in your head and challenged you

I saw it in you and felt it in your breathe

You won the lost

You didn't care what happened

Left me to pay the cost

Go away

Never come back

You paid the ultimate price

For a prize now fallen through the cracks

It's over now

What's lost is lost

But remember it's not I but you who paid the cost
