*Where Are You Now?*

Poetry By: MAmberConrad
Poetry

This is a poem I wrote about 9 years ago, not long after I got sober. It's a very angry poem, and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I'm not this angry person anymore, just more reflective on my past now.

Where Are You Now?
Hello there, baby
Do you remember me?
I'm not in South Carolina
And it's not 3:33
There's a diet coke
With the scent of a lemon
And I'm not chasing
Any more women
Nice to see you guys
All from my dark past
I was dying inside
And, still, I came in last
So, my past
Where are you now?
Are you listening?
Are you hurting somehow?
You know who I am
Say hello to me
There's an asshole
Who likes Chapter Thirteen
And there's my faggot
Who loved to fight
And then steal away
Into a rainy night
And my girl
Who lived in Texas
And if I'd ask her
She'd buy me a Lexus
And my redhead
Moved to another state
Hope the cheese was good
On your first date
So, my past
Where are you now?
Are you listening?
Are you hurting somehow?
Sometimes I can still
Smell your lemon
Sometimes I catch myself
Lookin' for certain women
But I don't hurt anymore
From when you cheated me
And I am no longer
On Chapter Thirteen
Good-bye to you all
Good bye to all my memories
I will not miss you all
I am living my dreams.
