Rushing towards then pulling back,

Whooshing sounds of the water

In full force, like a quiet angry lover.

I silently take off my emotional armor

Smell of the salty sea

Crunchy soft sand beneath my feet

The sun settling down

Presenting me with quite a treat

Agnes stood on the quiet beach, her dreams beginning to fall.

Her heart knowing, her soul not ready at all

The sounds of the wrestling waves pounding upon the shore

She couldn't hold those yearning tears anymore

Her tears fell with a vengeance, not a single one wasted

The soft, crunchy sand beneath her feet had tasted

Each grain felt her sadness, her bitterness, her defeat

It soaked in her wretched heart and soul beneath her feet

The sun decided to set after her tears ran dry

Agnes walked away from the beach, after a good long cry
