See You In My Dreams
They scarce had seen each other,
As it began to rain
A light kiss on the cheek was all she needed
To feel his inside pain.
He walked away, his back to her.
And she just stood there.
The rain couldn't hide her tears
For sadness was so hard to bear.
So much she wanted him to look back
But look back, he never did.
Oh, how she wanted to crawl away
Into her corner, where she usually hid
To cry out her unsaid dreams.
And when she started walking the other way,
"Please, my love, I beg for you!"
She heard him say.
She turned around to see
And there he is, ready to embrace
Her in his loving arms,
Where their love could never be erased.
And then her eyes opened,
Realizing it was only a memory.
She was not in his arms,
It was only for love to see.
As she kept walking,
She whispered in her soft voice,
"Tonight, love, see you in my dreams.
And never again shall I have a choice
To love another as I loved you.
Tonight, love, see you in my dreams.
For you will always be in my heart.
Though tears will be in my eyes, it seems
I will lost be forever without you.
And may your lifelong journey
Be safe with friends that are true.
And in hopes you'll remember me."
And when God heard her prayer,
He touched her on the head.
She looked up into the skies
And suddenly felt comforted.
Her tears had stopped and she heard,
"Good night, my only love,
I shall see you in my dreams."
And then the rain stopped from above.
She turned to look back
And he had walked out of sight.
And for the very last time, she cried,
"See you in my dreams tonight."
