Summer

The sweet smell of grass
In a brisk summer breeze
The warmth of the sun
Smiling down at me
The white puffy clouds
Resting with ease
Lazy cozy day
Silent and free

Yes, I don't care for the heat much, but I am enjoying me and the kids spending time in the pool!

Yeah, that's about how hot it gets here, too. I'm in the South of US, close to the Gulf of Mexico where Hurricanes like to hit....
So glad you like it!

Well, everyone else is doing a challenge, I figure we can all work together and get us all out of this dry spell!

Love summer-- just not the heat-- lol^_^! But wonderful poem-- I can just smell that green-grassy breeze. And I can just see those white puffy clouds as if I'm lying in a meadow or on top of a hill watching the sky. It's a simple poem, but it rhymes beautifully-- and speaks a thousand words that gives a lot of people a way to relate:). I love it.

Lot's of special chocolate to you,

Ghiradelli Girl.

I dont get to experience a great deal of 'change in seasons' being on the equator and all that,...but this piece helped me visualize the warm welcome summer brings....great!

Yeah, I live in Louisiana, the Southwest part of it, so our seasons are "Hot" and "Really F**king Hot"!!!

Thanks for the wonderful comment.

This is great. I'm a sucker for sun poems. Like the line with lazy and cozy (I'm never playing YOU at scrabble!) LIKE IT!!

LOL
Actually, I don't do very well at scrabble.... More of a Mah-Jong kinda person.

So glad you enjoy my "warm" poem!

I love this poem because it reminds me of the hot summer days and lazy afternoons. Sitting on the front porch with a big glass of lemon-aid. Family members gathered around sharing old child-hood stories, and every once in a while a summer breeze hits you in the right place. Plus, I'm a summer baby.. July 15th

Author Comment:

Yeah, it brings me back too! I'm a summer baby, too... July 9. I was five days late, I was supposed to be a bi-centennial baby. 1976.
But yeah, I love a lazy summer afternoon. Thanks so much for commenting.

MA

hmmm....lazy cosy day....freedom....
