The Candle

Poem By: MAmberConrad
Poetry

This is a challenge from ixluvx2xwritex2, and I am excited to participate. I get to write a story or poem, with a quote she gave me. My quote is from one of my all-time favorite movies, Young Frankenstein. I’ve always been a huge fan of Mel Brooks films, and the quote is, “Put the candle back!”
Originally, I was going to do something comedic, but decided to try something romantic. View table of contents...

THE CANDLE

She watched him light the candles,
As they slowly glowed in the room
His breath caught the match
Her breath caught, knowing it would be soon

He brought a candle to bed
They watched it flicker together
The flames licking the air above
The scent lasting forever

Put the candle back, she whispered
With a gleam in her eyes,
He smiled, she smiled,
Knowing their love will never die

Very nice poem, and your quote was from Young Frankenstein, huh? I have to do mine, I have "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You," and I am just tweaking it a little. I'll let you know when I am finished. Great Job, Ted

Thanks, Ted. Yeah, from Young Frankenstein. Back when comedy was actually funny, ya know? Let me know when yours is up, and I'll give it a read.
