A single lock

Of pale blonde hair

Peeked out from her beret

That was revolution red

She smiled at me

Set down her book

Karl Marx and his Teaching

And its pages flew at me

For Lenins' words

And that sweet smile

Seemed to dance all around

Mixing freely in my mind

I tucked her hair

Back in place

Such a pretty comrade

Then held her neck and kissed her

But she bit me

Spat in my face

Decried I was bourgeois

And left me for Lenins' words
