this is a poem that describes the importance of understanding that when you are in a relationship, you can't merely rely on the other person to help you enjoy life - you have to be able to be by yourself so that if it doesn't work out, it's ok because you have you! and you are pretty great.

One toxic stare
Those gleaming eyes
Trying to pretend
Not to see
Glance
Shiver
A wave of uneasiness
Radiates
From him to me
Eye to eye
I feel a non-existent touch
It is only a memory
Happiness
Flashes of what was
Dark shadows
Of what I will become
All I want;
All I ever wanted
Was just to be me
Standing alone in the dark
One ray
And I am no longer scared
I am no longer alone
I now have me

This is sweet. A kind of 'I believe in me' poem but one that most can relate to after painful break ups.
I liked it. Its simple yet beautiful.
Well done :)
