we all procrastinate... some more than others. take advantage of the time that you have on this earth because you never know when your time might be up. View table of contents...

As I sweep the crumbs off of the table,
I know I am ultimately just fooling myself;
I mean, I'll have to clean the floor eventually.
But at least there's the possibility
to put it off for a little while,
and give the appearance of a clean table.
But then, there are those sticky,
gooey substances
like honey or maple syrup
that cause all the trouble.
You can't avoid that sweet,
glutinous stuff
because you lose no matter what.
If you don't wash it off right away,
it will stick
even more adamantly than before,
and will cause even more
pain
and
effort
to clean away.
There isn't even the possibility
of wiping it off of the table,
onto the floor and dealing with it
later
because it's just so sticky
that it would stick right to your hands.
These gooey, sticky, icky things
are what cause all the hassle;
maybe I can just cover the table with a nice tablecloth or something,
and deal with it
later

I really liked that poem. It just epitomizes what everyone feels whilst cleaning up. I think about that every time I'm at work, making bagels and pushing the crumbs on the floor. It's always at the back of my mind that later I'll be sweeping it up!
