Red Sun in the City

Poem By: Massonic
Poetry

This was actually more song lyrics, to a song that has not happened (yet). Makes much more sense to me as a song, but it personally hits me powerfully when I get near this one. It is a random collection of different people and events tied together when I traveled through Europe right after 9/11. View table of contents...

Scaling up and down these vacant walls
well I cannot seem to see
my own foreign hands waving
right in front of me

All alone on a warm dark night
asking, well do you know where?
For where can he be going? but it is all right,
It’s just alright now
This laughter, this laughter is mine – I share it now

Surely you can see me
Under an altered night sky
Waiting for the wings
Red Sun in the City,
Red Sun in the City

This Roman kingdom shines
forms a matchless freedom
where two thousand birds fray
Traveling above me, swirling;
He must be laughing now

Somewhere above in the distance
Back together again
Time alone back on the big land
Shared laughter with my friend

And in the vanished evening
Can she feel this far away?
Does she stand alone in gentle darkness?
It’s simply not for me to say

Well surely you can see me
Under an altered night sky
Waiting for the wings
Red Sun in the City,
Red Sun in the City

Hey, this was great! I The first stanza’s makes me think you're lost, and then the second lonely, fining you're way, but you find humour in it? Though I wonder if it's you laughing or someone laughing at you? It's as if you're trying to be seen, binding your time. And then, you talk about being back together with a friend, would that be a place? Your home, or a person? Well, you've got me thinking, I'm curious to know if you had an idea of what it's about or not? I love the image of a red sun over a city. :) Loved this! ~ Nixie

Thanks. I actually don't quite know what it means, and it is supposed to be ambiguous. I am not hung up on finding a rational meaning with this one. It is actually just a poem of separate events different people, at different times that somehow hit me emotionionally in the same way.

hi! massonic. anyone'd be moved by this deep love. she'll of course feel it in her soul and heart. ur loneliness'll give way to togetherness (that's what u crave for). way to go, my dear. lol. ;-)

Thanks. I attempted to capture an emotion felt a couple different times while traveling. I would say love and loneliness form a part of it.

'Red Sun in the City'I loved that part, I did. ;) Nice!

Thanks. For some reason I'm really inspired by the red sun in the city. Feel like its completely unfinished, and don't know what the heck to do with it! ah
