WHEN A FLOWER FALLS

When a flower falls,
is it time for it to die?
Or it is the long awaited time
to kiss the ground,
its source of beauty and life:
its real home.

When a flower falls
it is no goodbye,
for it stakes the ground
for the seeds to follow and claim,
a tiny world enough for each
to fill with a life so rich.

When a flower falls
it is no time to cry,
for as its fragrance is consumed
by a little child’s lips,
its crumpled little petals
herald a mission accomplished.

WHEN A FLOWER FALLS

When a flower falls,

is it time for it to die?

Or it is the long awaited time

to kiss the ground,

its source of beauty and life:

its real home.

When a flower falls

it is no goodbye,

for it stakes the ground

for the seeds to follow and claim,

a tiny world enough for each

to fill with a life so rich.

When a flower falls

it is no time to cry,

for as its fragrance is consumed

by a little child's lips,

its crumpled little petals

herald a mission accomplished.
