Oh...I just figured you out...you use subtle action words that keeps the river flowing.
I have many many "letters" like this and have never thought to share them as poetry (i mean thoughts)...
You've filled me visually and that is one of my favorite things. Thank You.

Wow, my favorite part was " I feel each rain drop,
chase each cloud until my eyes are filled
with your tears." That is really moving.

Awwwwwwwwwww I'm a sucker for these cute lovy dovy poems. *sniff* you really caught me at
"And when I close my eyes such images
fill my head that I find myself stood
next to you looking at the Starry
Night in wonder. "
so so sweet!

This is really beautiful Matthew. It is surprising how close we can feel to someone through a letter (the reall kind not the computer email thing though that seems to be the way of today) Lovely images.

So when I ready our comment I went straight to this poem of yours. I understand what you mean, here the letter is the communication that makes you feel closer to the person.
The ending is just beautiful - your weatherbeaten words, it really suggests the journey that letter took to get to you.

The phrasing of this poem is so vivid! When ever I read a poem inspired or written for somebody I always wonder if the writer gave it to that person? If you did I'm sure she must have loved it. It's really wonderful work Matt.

Very sweet Matt, reading your poetry is like you allowing us to see parts of you, the best parts (not that there are any bad parts) and it's a pleasure reading something that is so obviously close to your heart. Words can say so much, and you prove it! Another great piece. ~ Nixie
