Dance for the Dead

The hour of midnight is at hand
Moon rises full over the woods.
Eerie music floats through the air.
The dance for the dead has begun.

Lone souls wander the Earth
The dale-fire burns high.
Figures move to primitive music.
The dance for the dead has begun.

Spirits talk to the living.
The two realms join, coming together on one night.
The night’s creatures rejoice.
The dance for the dead has begun.

The ancients are honored with song and dance.
Old ones take the places of honor.
People pay tribute to the ones who have passed.
The dance for the dead has begun.

The night has drawn to a close.
The spirits have returned to their realm.
Sunlight creeps up over the horizon,
The dance for the dead has ended.
