Ancient Wing

By M. E. Riddle

Arctic gosling escape

Under mother's wind

Eat, swim, run

Sleep, rest, sing.

Synchonym with siblings

Young flightless perch

Guided ancient wing

Fly formation on earth.

First light

Frantically finding flight

Countless generations

Travel through the night.

In the darkness

A different light draws near

By morning

Ancient wing disappeard.
