Mattress Insides

By M. E. Riddle

Glad bags carry dog tags

To sidewalks by their mothers

Drive by's, dead wives

Snipers with blind eye.

Wave flag, Bastille Day

Morals flying high

Old soldiers showing young

Posthumous ways to die.

Right flank delta

Assembly line attrition

Bloody mattress insides

Brings enemy submission.

Forward iron monster

Mechanical metal vest

Carry Velcro babies

Closer to their death.

Machinery macabre

Using bring assault

Siege engineer destroys

What godless gods cannot.
