The Mercury of Mercury

By M. E. Riddle

Dead eggs living, dying fast,

Birds over A.M. from distant past.

No comprehension, lost in tide,

Scratching, seeking to hide.

Bovine madness on the farm,

Degree is rising, impending harm.

It's poison flying, formation in rapture,

Incognito, for man to capture.

Molecular monsters travel through

Membranes of mothers' wombs.

Barometers wait to feed,

On parasites, through wealth and greed.

Of pesticides and coffee cups,

Computers and rusting trucks.

There's selenium in Stockton,

Dioxin in Detroit.

Human feces on the strand,

Hypo needles in the sand.

Dead eggs living, dying fast,

A needless pun to understand.

The forecast to be,

The mercury of mercury.

The results at hand,

The death of man.
