Thermite

Poem By: Methelusa
Poetry

When you combine aluminum and rust with heat, it creates such a powerful reaction, that it can burn through steel. This is called thermite. Of course, this reaction is uncontrollable, so it burns uncontrollably, until it burns out. This poem is about old aspiration burning out, and the un-realisation of dreams. Or just the realisation that dreams aren't real. You must always have them though. View table of contents...

Something burns for nothing,

Just uses all it's energy,

No one yearns for something

No one pity me.

Distant eyes trapped in time,

Forgotten memories, trip divine

Souless souls all getting lost

Temporary ruse, with destiny's locks

Tied and bound and thrown away

Tripped and felled and sacrosanct

Fired and iced, and evergreen

Licked and sucked, remembering

Ravaged and pillioried and aspiration

Deafening with guilt and desperation

Retold, re-born and realise

Time is ours to never give

Time and time and time again

Life is yours to never live

Dreams are dreamt and never real

Eyes are closed to never see

Lips sealed tight and never speak

The rope held tight, descend on me

A candle doused and flickering

A moments cut, filled with promise

A lonely look of incoherence

A cup built to overflow with rust

Just remember aluminum dust

You walk in with your eternal fires

To incinerate the destiny years.

Ramshackle hearts...

Dreams only die if you let them. Long live the flight of dreams. Enjoyed the poem, SN.

Awesome, thankyou. It was actually inspired by an episode of CSI where they talk about Thermite, I just put my spin on it. Many thanks.

Love this one, holds alot of truth to it..dreams can be attained if you let yourself have them, but yet, we let them go because of all the fear and crap...wise one.

Hey, you're back after your one day vacation! Thankyou, I don't know why the idea of thermite gave me this thread, probably the uncontrollable burning out thing...thankyou!

Liked this a lot, found myself philosophizing over many of the lines. Liked 'Souless souls all getting lost' gave me image of a world full of mad people en route from A - Z rushing around with pointless lives, and 'Tripped and felled and sacrosanct Fired and iced, and evergreen' reminded me of a forest, held dear...to be slaughtered for timber/whatever.

Yeah, I like to use ambiguous imagery, I like people to make up their own message - yours are good! Thankyou.
