Love is for ever

Poetry By: micaro
Poetry

A poem about lost love.
The poem starts by using the phrase "thee" linking to Brownings famous poem.
"How do you" is present tense linking to the ongoing current situation
"Answer me" alludes to the non communication since the breakup
"To have loved and lost is better then never to have loved at all" is a phrase she used several times in the relationsip
The writer wonders whether she ever thinks of him and perhaps her thinking of him once, is enough before he passes on.

Why do I love thee still?

After all these years until……

Many times have I wanted to see you

To hear your, to hug you

No knowledge of where you are

How do you live your life so far?

Answer me, who has taken my place?

You promised me, your love would never fade

Is what you once said only a lie

Or was it just words to get by

To have loved and lost is a bitter pill

But not as bitter, to love you still.

Remember me I ask of you

Before I am forever still.
