I feel the storm coming toward me,
The illumination of its lightning illuminating my pale face
As I walk down this darkened street
Longing for the place that I call home.

Visions of people I have seen
Enveloped in the love for each other,
Oh how I long to be that way
Even though the woman I love is so far away.
How I long for her touch
To feel the tenderness of true love
And the feel of a woman next to me.

Lightning flashed again even stronger now,
As the words of strangers echo in my mind.
Taunting me, harassing me,
Even though that they know nothing about who I am.
Who are they to judge?
What right to they have to hurt me?

Still, there words hurt, burn my soul,
Making me feel like a stranger
Within a foreign land,
Never aware of what will come or what to do.

I say let the darkness come,
Let death take me away,
For no matter how hard I try
I can not escape the nightmares of my past.
And the way people look at me.
Even though I am like everyone else
I know I am alone.

My friends married and moved away,
Leaving me here
In the darkness of my own self,
Wishing for death…for an end
To this eternal nightmare in my mind
That I call my life.
