Words that we all wish we could have said to the ones we love when we say farewell

I hold her in my arms as we kiss farewell
so much in my heart I long to tell.
Her body pressed against mine, not wanting to let go,
so many thing that I wish I could let her know.

But all that I say to her is "I Love You",
even though those three words are so true.

How I want to tell her how much I need her in my life,
and how the loneliness without her cuts me like a knife.
To tell her that she doesn't have to get on that train and leave,
and how much watching her walk away makes me grieve.
Just to tell her that I want her to live with me,
and that together we will be happy, I guarantee.
So many words, so many things I want to say,
to let her know I want her to stay.

But all that I say to her is "I Love You",
even though those three words are so true.

I can feel the pain in my heart burn me so much,
like an invisible hand around my body it does clutch.
Wanting to scream out for her to come back into my arms,
so we can be together within love's charms.
But the train pulls away and I stand here all alone,
regretting not saying all those things that she should have known.
Even though I will see her soon enough,
being without her for that time will be so tough.

All I say to her is "I Love You",
even though those three words are so true.

Why am I such a fool to keep those words inside,
not letting her trust I should confide.
But now it is too late to change all that,
as I make my way back home alone to my flat.
Next time though I will tell her all that I do feel,
never to let these feeling I shall conceal.
Still, I keep thinking about how we did part,
something which almost breaks my beating heart.

All I say to her is "I Love You",
even though those three words are so true
they are not enough to really show
all the love and tenderness for her I do bestow.
