A poem I thought up when I was out with my friends at a bar on Friday Night.

Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes,
While the television shows
Such false illusions of life.
Commercials and shows
That projects such fantasies
Those which can never come true.
Wanting to be lost from the reality,
They live in.

Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes,
Listening to the lies
Everyone says -
No truth spoken at all.
The drink taking effect,
Making them believe
They are attracted to someone.
Just longing to find
The dream lover
To bring about the physical pleasure
They yearn to feel.
Within uncaring hearts,
Just wanting satisfaction
Of the pleasures of the flesh.

Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes,
Listening to the stories of so many,
So different,
Yet so similar.
Talking of the hardships of life
To anyone who would listen.
Never aware of the impact they bring.
Wanting to be heard,
Even though their stories
Are always the same.
Believing
Someone will have the answers
They long for,
Never truly aware
How alone they really are.
Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes,
People using words so harmful
To those they don't know.
Hearts so cold,
Anger like an inferno within
Longing to lash out
At the first person they see.
So easier for them
To show hatred,
Then to except someone
For who they are.
Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes,
Writing in these pages -
Letting my power into my words.
People ask me who I am,
And I look at them with pride and say -
I am the creator of words,
Emotions and thoughts.
A man of such talent
That deserves to stand out.
I am a Poet.
So deal with it.
