Lost Love Of Lenore

She has a look all of her own

so beautiful in her flannel gown.

Wish I were with her to walk her home,

and pick her up when she's feeling

down.

I watch her lovliness everyday

sadly from my humble grave

I wished she could see me standing here

for today is our special day

It is the day of our anniversary.

I can't help to think, she's forgoten me.

My grave now a cold, and desolate place

she doesn't visit anymore

Have I already been replaced

Have I lost the love of lenore?

I remember the day, like it was yesterday.

Yea, I remember it well.

It was the day I passed away,

her heart broke I could tell.

And when it came time to bury me

her tears saturated with pain.

I saw that sadness in the lines

upon her face,

and to know it was over

our love would no longer

be the same.

Years have passed since then

my flowers withered away

weeds taken over my headstone

the birds no longer sing, nor play.

So with this I take to my grave

as her token.

My bestilled heart lies soiled,

and broken.

With this I deplore...

I've lost the love of my sweet lenore.

POE was talking about his wife, his cousin, who he married at 13 he was 29. When he wrote that poem she was terminally ill and was going to die soon. He died a few years later. [ probably from a broken heart ]
