Thoughts of a Demise

how will we end? what will our final thoughts be?

A bare desolance under a toxic cloud
Limbs of shattered skeletons on the ground
A slow but sharp wind is the only sound
Life came and gone
In a simple flash, all that was known turned to ash
Mankind created their own demise, pathetically and unnaturally
But it couldnt be that simple could it? That mankind would destroy themselves while striving to live?
Greed, hate, and jealousy built up until it was time to let them out
In an all out final competition of the best...but in the end, there was no best, only the worst
Who knows how the demise went, maybe a bomb went off, maybe virul warfare broke loose, or maybe people simply turned against each other
If a bomb went off, who pressed it? Their final thought perhaps being "We got those sons a bitches now" when a simple calculation error lead to their ending
If virul warfare broke loose what did the creators think? Maybe "If this is contained in its designated area it wont hurt us" but they were wrong when a carrior infected them
But what if people just turned against each other? The mother in the alleyway, before she was shot or knifed was her last thought being "Please, just please, let my child live to grow up" while her child was huddled on the ground in shock and fear
Just before their ending everybody's last thought is always the hardest, a religious person may think "I will be in the glory of God" while a regular person would figure "Why? Why now and why this way?"
Either way, no matter the thoughts, mankind made its fate long ago at the dawn of time
But it makes you wonder, could this be stopped if choices were changed and people wised up?
A bare desolance under a toxic cloud
Limbs of shattered skeletons on the ground
A slow but sharp wind is the only sound, This is the song that the dead now sing as they ponder their final thoughts...wherever they are
