The Trees can't change human nature, they must stand tall and weep silently.

Trees

Confusion swept across your face
As I watch that far away
Your gaze is of a cold embrace
Your soul a deep dark gray
You don't see me, but I see you
Your tears spill loose and free
And I feel there's nothing I can do
As you fall down to your knees

My wooden heart breaks in two
As that rope hangs 'round your neck
My arm is weighed down by your flesh
Your breath a troubled wreck

Try as I might, my arm won't snap
And my roots can't reach the stool
You do not fight the light ahead
A child's life gone, so cruel
So there you hang, body limp
My torso wrapped in blood
My leaves fall loose, a tearful cry
As your soul runs free to love

So I will answer your fateful plea
As your flesh was pried to the ground
A tree that has fallen from wreck or pain
Indeed will make a sound
