If you ever knew someone who had been hurt in any way and who never made it through that traumatic experience, I think you will understand what they felt and went through once you read this poem.

last night on earth

I hear footsteps approaching my room.

I turn quickly and snatch up a broom.

As quick as can be, I am thrown on the bed.

He hovers over me, filling my heart with dread.

My hands are pinned to my sides, it seems that no one can hear my cries.

His palms sweaty, his breath ragged.

He hits me hard and places over my head a black bag.

I cannot see, I cannot breathe.

He places his hands all over me.

I kick and swing and catch him clear.

All you can hear is a sound from me that is made of fear.

He takes the bag off and walks out of the room.

He has done no damage, but I have a feeling of doom.

He comes back once more, I am tired and sore.

He rips out my tongue so that I may speak no more.

My eyes are gone, I cannot see.

God tell me, what can this mean?

I fight again and black out as he hits me in the head.

I no longer breathe, he cries out for what he has done in agony.

My hands are tied, there is no pain in my head.

The feelings are all gone, for now I am dead.
