From Leftover Thoughts!
Sitting here; what should I write about?
I’ve got nothing but bits and pieces of thought
Oh well, here goes nothing;
A one-eyed owl keeps watch on the barn;
A cross-eyed stranger stares back from the mirror
An old man plays solitaire and waves to the crowd
A lonely widow waits by the phone,
Willing someone will take away her pain
A loner sits alone in his room,
Watching out his window as the children play,
Dreaming of joining in, but knowing he won’t
A mangy dog watches the spoiled poodle with envy,
With his golden collar, and his snobby owner
A homeless man sleeps under the bridge,
And dreams of castles, where he once lived
Well, looks like that’s it for today, maybe tomorrow
