Dirty Words
Why did you say that; why didn’t you think?
Once spoken, your words, you can never get back
So hurtful to other’s, so ridiculous to you
There’s no way anyone could take them seriously, could they?
Oh, how you wish to take them back,
But the damage is considerable; the damage is done
Now you live with the consequences, a world of dark shadows
Judged by what you said, in what was supposed to be a joke
But your words were weapons, that cut someone else so deep
Once they’re out there, there’s no explaining yourself,
That they don’t represent the way you really feel
They may not be cursing, but they’re still dirty words!
