Long Time Gone
By Mike Stevens
Has anyone seen my old life? It used to be right here!
Just why it changed, isn’t exactly clear
One day it was doing fine, the next it was a long time gone
I guess I don’t know where it went, or what I did wrong?
I look at the face in the mirror, and he’s a stranger to me
How did I wind up here; I’ve tried, but I just can’t see
Which way is up; which way is out?
Where before there was certainty, now there is doubt
I used to know exactly where I was headed
Now the future is something to be dreaded
I walk alone into the great unknown
All my faults are exposed; all bravado blown
I guess I have to be truthful with myself
Just where the answers lie, it’s so hard to tell
