Photographs
They stare back at you from the wall
With each passing year, they get harder to recall
Forever silent, forever frozen in time
They’re memories getting harder to find
They take your mind back to when they lived outside the frames
It’s comforting to have them near, but it’s just not the same
You wish you could go back to that time and place
But it’s forever frozen, like the smile upon their face
It’s sad to realize that ‘Someday, that’ll be me.”
Hopefully, it’s a long way off, before the end you’ll see
Faces radiating with hopes for the future
Now nothing but echoes of the past, a past so pure,
nothing to show their struggles, on the way to their dreams
nothing of their actual lives, or so it seems
Just smiling, happy faces left for our eyes,
in a $3.99 frame; in a handy framing size
