Sadness
Like a veil blocking out all the light,
it shrouds your mind in a darkness so complete,
nothing but your despair can penetrate the gloom
You feel so hopeless, so beaten down,
you’ll never rise again; you’re drowning in self-pity
You just stare at the walls in your darkened room
Through red-rimmed eyes, you seek the answers to why?
Over and over, the same disastrous thoughts
whirl through your mind, again and again
Your friends try to tell you it’ll soon get better,
but no one can enter your thoughts, so how can they know?
If there are no answers, how can hope win?
You don ‘t feel it happen, but slowly things change
The veil begins to lift, the gloom begins to fade
Things don’t seem so hopeless; less black, and a little more white
Hopelessness is gone, will be replaced with hope
if you just hang on long enough,
soon you’ll find, you’re standing in the light
