“Return with Me, If You Will, To...”
Return with me, if you will, to the good old days
When man was compassionate towards his fellow man
When caring was on the upswing; not like now,
When it’s dog eat dog, and you’re on your own is the creed
Long ago, knowledge wasn’t mocked as something
Only snobby liberals were guided by
Whatever happened to our sense that education,
Both of ourselves, and our young people,
Was the key for a bright future?
Somewhere or somehow along the way
We the people averted our eyes; looked to something new
Now days it’s greed and selfishness that we worship
Yes, towards the close of the 20th century,
Politics changed; and a new creed was put in place
See how much more satisfied we are?
