Shadows
There is a darkness towering over me
It falls over my eyes; making it impossible to see
There is no more us, there is no more we
It really happened, but how can it be?
If I close my eyes , it looks just the same
Differences; too wide the chasm, but no one’s to blame
Shadows have fallen, oh, where is the light? The game
Is over, even before I knew to start; the excuses are lame
I look for answers in the dark of the night,
But these damn shadows stealing my sight
No one is wrong, and no one is right
Too big a hill to climb; the impossible fight
Regrets fill my heart, but also the sad truth
There is nothing I can change; there’s nothing I can do
Nothing would have changed this thing for me and you
It’s just a cold hard fact, our marriage is through
