That Kid Used to be Me!
Seeing my nephew go through troubles in life
Is like seeing myself in a mirror from long ago
I want to tell him; been there, done that!
But of course I can’t do that, he wouldn’t relate
You want to pass on your life experiences,
But you have to let him make his own mistakes
That’s the way life works; until it happens to you, it doesn’t sink in
You want to tell him to just enjoy the moments,
That it all passes in the blink of an eye,
But I remember being his age; time passes slower,
And you’re impatient for what’s ahead,
But one day you’re 50, and it seems society’s passed you by
So I’d just tell him, make sure you take things as they happen,
I know you’re in a hurry, because where you’re at, that used to be me!
