Words as a Weapon
The sharp steel blade of a sentence
The hissing words soon to detonate
Using language to bludgeon and kill
The hate lingers in the air; the impact resonates
The impact of your choice of words can last for years,
Can rip out a heart, can put self-worth in the basement
Can tear apart carefully-constructed defenses,
Where they hide behind indestructible casements
Your laughing echoes on and on and on
Long after the pain should be over and done
There’s no getting away, they can't hide
Can’t get away from memories; there’s nowhere to run
