No other Love

Poetry By: Mikey McCormack
Poetry

This is a poem I wrote for the days when you may think of the past and remember the one who may have gotten away, and you realise with relish that the one you have is the true love of your life.

No Other Love

No other love has been like this,
The bliss, the joys and the sweetness of joining,
Other loves have tried to match the sensual awareness,
They fall to their death in apparent disgrace.

No other love can be told in so many volumes,
In different languages of universal code,
Other loves have tried to interfere, with their version,
They fail to make the prologue of our epic journey.

No other love has filled me with such light,
The brilliant, beaming beacon of our hearts,
Other loves have tried to outburn our immaculate flame,
They extinguish at the first sign of pessimistic rain.

No other love has taught me what this has,
The knowledge that we are entwined, set for a long life,
Other loves have tried to show us otherwise,
They fail to sever the ties that have bound.

No other love can do what you do for me,
A smile, a laugh a loving arm to protect me,
Other loves have tried to replicate this bond,
They can't, for they are not you.
