Even the Mundane

Sometimes you get a little fed up.

Study hard, test well

Work hard, must excel

Do all the things that make one a success

All these things done, I must confess

. . .

How I wish to sometimes live with reckless abandon

I want to break rules

Just pick it all up and run

Tour the world and do something rash

Forget about the bills the dates and the people

Do something epic and put my name on the moon

. . .

Responsibility reigns me in and makes me tame

Duties I hold make others find me lame

I must go on and obediently do my part

Though even the mundane can truly be wild at heart
