examine the chameleon
he's the master of his trade
when he unlocks his painting box
inside is every shade
the splash of nature's palette
every color ever made
with one to take the other's place
in case it starts to fade
some people are chameleons
for their colors they will change
its deep within, not on their skin
their moods they'll rearrange
to some they'll act familiar
and to others very strange
with variations in between
of every style and range
how sad are these chameleons
to themselves they are not true
their slight of hand, you understand
is something that they do
to win someone's approval
with a special type of hue
that just might be a false one
like you'd put on like a shoe
so watch out for chameleons
if they seek to win your grace
and if that task requires a mask
be fastened to their face
its just a work of fiction
and you're best off to erase
much better off without them
if you find that is the case
